CHICA BEAN

It was through this captivating brew, full of balanced body with rich dark chocolate, sweet orange, and brown sugar swirls, that we realized these women from Jalapa, Guatemala weren’t producing just any old cup of coffee; they’re creating something special. The only thing that may be even more delectable than actually drinking this coffee is the knowledge that this quality is transforming the community, opening opportunities, and empowering farmers.

COFFEE SUGGESTIONS

The Medium Roast is the preferred coffee in Guatemala. It is a clean cup that gives a smooth body and a roast profile light enough to find intriguing flavor notes. We recommend always trying the first 2 sips of your cup of coffee without any additives to experience its natural goodness, but after, if its your preference, a bit of sweetener doesn’t harm this coffee. Depending on brew method and taste, a splash of milk could work but this coffee is best enjoyed black.

GUARANTEED TRACEABILITY & FRESHNESS

Your bag of Medium Roast will come from one of the strong female producers listed above. However, with our Espresso, Medium Roast, and Dark Roast, we do not actually know who’s coffee we will be roasting until roast day. These producers are all very small producers and don’t cultivate enough to have their own dedicated product. They are all from the same community and produce quite similar coffee so we can ensure quality throughout the year by leaving sacks sealed until they need to be opened.

It is our promise to always deliver single-origin coffee. That means, we never blend our coffee, not when roasting or before when it’s in green bean form. We maintain strict records to ensure that every single bag of coffee can be traced back to the strong woman who created it and also the batch it was roasted in. Your coffee will be roasted 1 or 2 days before it is shipped to you directly from our roastery in Guatemala. After leaving us, it usually takes around 3 days to arrive at your doorstep, meaning you receive your coffee within a week of it being roasted

    The coffee is perfect; just what I remember when I was a PCV in Guatemala for 3 years. Freshly ground beans after arrival were superb!
    By the way, let me know if you can also supply Decaffeinated Beans, medium roast. While I am a coffee addict for regular beans, my wife is not able to drink any caffeinated beverage due to a health issue.
