CHICA BEAN

A Dark Roast is the preferred coffee of those who like to describe their morning brew as strong or, as my mom would claim, a cup of mud. Through a carefully monitored roasting process, Evelin is able to highlight the intense toasted flavors that are typical of Dark Roasts without burning all the natural flavor out of the seeds. She does not simply turn the coffee beans from green to brown; she strategically guides them through a rollercoaster of heat and air until the sugars naturally found inside are perfectly caramelized.

TRACEABILITY

  • Farm Gate: $2.40 (Parchment)
  • Chica Bean Production: $4.05
  • C Price at purchase: $2.157 FOB (Green/Oro)

COFFEE SUGGESTIONS

With its rich roasted flavors and heavy body, the Dark Roast is ideal for those who search for a charged black coffee or enjoy adding milk. We recommend always trying the first 2 sips of your coffee without any additives to experience its natural goodness, but after, if its your preference, this coffee blends beautifully with all compliments. Best prepared in methods that highlight its body, like normal coffee machines, french presses, and Moka Pots.

GUARANTEED SINGLE-ORIGIN TRACEABILITY & FRESHNESS

Your bag of Dark Roast will come from one of the strong female producers listed above. However, with our Espresso, Medium Roast, and Dark Roast, we do not actually know who’s coffee we will be roasting until roast day. These producers are all very small producers and don’t cultivate enough to have their own dedicated product. They are all from the same community and produce quite similar coffee so we can ensure quality throughout the year by leaving sacks sealed until they need to be opened.

It is our promise to always deliver single-origin coffee. That means, we never blend our coffee, not when roasting or before when it’s in green bean form. We maintain strict records to ensure that every single bag of coffee can be traced back to the strong woman who created it as well as the exact batch it was roasted in. Check your bag to find out who produced your coffee!

This is our second subscription – we used to get the best batch and decided to go for the dark roast this time. We absolutely love the coffee! And the Chica Bean team has been so so helpful and responsive to any questions. We love ordering the small size bags of coffee too as gifts to try to get other people to join the Chica Bean family. Suerte y exito para ustedes!!
